Reggie Bush Deserves the Cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 2025

The return of the beloved NCAA Football video game series has sparked fervent debates among fans about who should grace the cover of the highly anticipated 2025 edition. Among the contenders, one name stands out: Reggie Bush. Former USC star and NFL veteran received his 2005 Heisman Trophy this week after being formally reinstated by the award's committee. There's a compelling case to be made for why Bush deserves this honor.

Reggie Bush's tenure at the University of Southern California (USC) remains legendary. His electrifying performances on the field captured the hearts of fans nationwide. Bush's unmatched agility, speed, and game-changing plays made him a standout player, earning him the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2005. In '05, Bush had one of the best seasons by a running back in college football history, rushing for 1,740 yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging 8.7 yards per carry. He also caught 37 passes for 478 yards and two scores, and he scored once on a punt return.

Every College Football fan has been waiting for this game to come back since they discontinued after NCAA Football 14. I

The 2021 United States Supreme Court case NCAA. v. Alston deemed the NCAA's precedent of avoiding compensating athletes impermissible. Following the ruling, the NCAA reversed its position, creating rules for likeness compensation. In 2023, after the implementation of these changes, EA announced that player likenesses would be featured in their next college football game. In February 2024, EA revealed that they would pay each athlete a flat $600 payment and a copy of the game for allowing the NIL to be used. Athletes who decline to allow EA to use their identity will be replaced in-game with a generic, auto-generated character and EA would block players from creating and inserting the athlete into the game manually. By early March 2024, EA had secured NIL opt-ins from over 10,000 athletes; notable opt-outs were reported to include Texas quarterback Arch Manning. Similarly, the Heisman Trophy and the various bowls will appear in the game, but the National College Football Awards Association requested that their awards and trophies not be included.
