Over the years, the trend of skipping Bowl Games has risen on top players getting ready for the NFL Draft and risking injury in their last college game. I see it from both sides, on one hand it would be devastating to get injured and cost yourself and family money on losing out on more guaranteed and signing bonus money.
Just like what happened to Jaylon Smith out of ND in 2016, a projected top 5 pick choosing to play in his team’s Fiesta Bowl Game vs Ohio State. One wrong play cost him a torn ACL and LCL, Smith was still selected in that 2016 draft 34th to the Dallas Cowboys and currently plays for the NY Giants.
This year there are a significant number of top notch players deciding not to play due to Transfer Portal or preparing for the NFL Draft.
